Every day we all experience things that we can perceive as either a blessing or a burden.
• A parent or loved one who expects us to call them everyday
• An aging relative that requires extra help so they can stay in their home
• Grass that needs cutting and endless weeds that need pulling
• An aging pet that has to be let out in the middle of the night
• Going to work every day at a job that you dislike
The list goes on.
As Dr. Barbara DeAngelis writes, when we decide that something is a burden we draw all the grace and joy out of it. When we see something as a blessing we stop seeing it as taking all our energy and allow it to uplift us.
Think about the things in your life that you have been feeling burdened by and see if you can change them into blessings. I have always been a silver lining kind of thinker. If you get stuck leave a comment and let me know. I am sure I can come up with a few other perspectives to consider.
Please share your examples of changing burdens to blessings. It will be helpful to others reading the blog and will get us all thinking in the right direction.
My family and I are going through a dark journey right now, when all looks bleak and you wonder just how much more you can handle God sends a couple of earth Angels to show me the silver lining. A bunch of flowers and a couple of very thoughtfully worded cards….some of the weight has gone and I know we are not alone ❤️🙏❤️
Sometimes the blessing part takes a while to come into focus. Hang in there Wendy and know how very much you and your family are loved.
